About Me

I’m Lee and I live in Yorkshire. I’m a proud dad of two lovely children. I had my first allotment aged 18 and have never looked back since! After going to horticultural college, I’ve gone on to work with and enjoy plants for over 30 years. I wouldn’t change a minute of it.. Onward to the next 30… together we can make something special happen.

I’ve written for the gardening press for over twenty-five years and had a great time doing it! At present, I’m the allotments blogger and one of the grow-your-own experts for the hugely respected, Suttons Seeds: http://www.suttons.co.uk.

Readers of The Country Smallholder: http://www.thecountrysmallholder.com and also Smallholder magazine will have seen my own grow-your-own pages for a decade and more.

I’ve also featured in many other national and regional publications including, Down Your Way, Choice, Towpath Talk, Warcry, ‘To’ and a number regional newspapers.

I’ve spent over a decade judging for RHS, Yorkshire in Bloom. I’ve seen a lifetime of amazing projects, transformations, innovation and met some truly wonderful people. Gardeners are so inspiring, there is literally never a dull day!

Outside of gardening, I’m a keen walker and have written four walking related books to date. The first one is a guidebook featuring parts of West and North Yorkshire, entitled, Walking in the Aire. My second book is entitled Pennine Way, The High and Lows. This is a humorous account of tackling this iconic 268 mile long walk over 17 days. I then did a second Airedale walking guidebook entitled: Walking With One Foot in the Aire. This followed on from the success of the original Walking in the Aire book. My latest book is entitled : Walking Wainwright’s Coast to Coast. Please send me a message if you’d like to buy a signed copy. All books are available at my Etsy online bookstore: https://walkingintheaire.etsy.com

Watch this space for my first gardening book….what should I write about? You tell me… I’m open to ideas!

In my spare time several hobbies. These include: camping, chess, spending time in the countryside and listening to music though not necessarily at the same time!
